Evaluating a Learning Situation as a Teacher

Block 1 Training DBE (FBD) Winter 2016

In this portion of the workshop, two of the trainers simulated an oral interaction between a teacher and a student for the Shopping for a Smartphone learning situation.  Participants were asked to evaluate C1 (Interacts Orally in English) and C2 (Reinvests Understanding of Texts) using the Evaluation Grids from the exams.  Time was taken to explain the specifics of C2 Evaluation as this is a difficult concept to grasp as it did not exist in the old program.

It is important to note that the Evaluation Grids can and should be shared with students so they understand what is expected of them in the course.  Instructional Grids were presented in the second block of training.  These grids simplify the language from the evaluation grids so they are easier for students, and teachers, to understand.
