TASK 2, NOTES PAGE, DICTIONARY) IS PERMITTED DURING THE NOTES REVIEW PART OF SECTION 2 OF THE EVALUATION IN ANG-4101, ANG-4102, ANG-5101, ANG-5102?\u00a0\u00bb][vc_column_text]For the courses ANG-4101, ANG-4102, ANG-5101 and ANG-5102, the Instructions for Administering the Examination specify that for the revision period, the teacher must provide the adult learner with a copy of Task 2 and the Notes pages from the Adult\u2019s Booklet. However, for the oral interaction, the adult learner may only use the Notes pages as a reference throughout the interaction.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_accordion_tab][vc_accordion_tab title=\u00a0\u00bbCAN A TEACHER OTHER THAN THE STUDENT\u2019S TEACHER DO THE INTERACTION WITH THE STUDENT?\u00a0\u00bb][vc_column_text]The teacher doing the oral interaction is preferably the regular English as a Second Language teacher of the adult learner. Under certain circumstances, another ESL teacher may administer the oral interaction.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_accordion_tab][vc_accordion_tab title=\u00a0\u00bbMUST THE ORAL INTERACTION BETWEEN THE STUDENT AND TEACHER IMMEDIATELY FOLLOW THE NOTES REVIEW?\u00a0\u00bb][vc_column_text]Yes, the oral interaction must immediately follow the review period.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_accordion_tab][vc_accordion_tab title=\u00a0\u00bbCAN WE DO THE REVIEW PERIOD AND ORAL INTERACTION IN THE CLASSROOM IN THE PRESENCE OF OTHER STUDENTS?\u00a0\u00bb][vc_column_text]No. The review period and oral interaction are held in an isolated location within the adult education centre. Isolated means the confidentiality of the examination is preserved, the potential for disruptions is minimized and the examination is not administered in the presence of other adult learners.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_accordion_tab][vc_accordion_tab title=\u00a0\u00bbFOR THE NOTES REVIEW PERIOD IN DBE EVALUATIONS, IS ISOLATING A STUDENT ACCEPTABLE OR DOES THE STUDENT NEED TO BE SUPERVISED?\u00a0\u00bb][vc_column_text]The adult learner must be supervised during the review period; however, supervision does not need to be by an English as a Second Language teacher.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_accordion_tab][vc_accordion_tab title=\u00a0\u00bbSHOULD ORAL INTERACTIONS BE RECORDED AND CONSERVED?\u00a0\u00bb][vc_column_text]In the following DBE courses, ANG-3101, ANG-3102, ANG-4101, ANG-4102, ANG-5101, and ANG-5102, the oral interaction represents 100% of the final grade. It is highly recommended to record all oral interactions. The teacher is required to be an integral part of the interaction and recording the interaction allows the teacher to listen afterwards and evaluate more precisely the student\u2019s production. The procedure for saving recordings of the oral interactions should be included in the centre\u2019s Standards and Procedures (Normes et modalit\u00e9s). The \u2018Examination Content\u2019 section of the DED reads:<br \/>\nDuring Section 1, the adult learner:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\">\u2022 Reads short narrative texts.<br \/>\n\u2022 Selects one of the texts as a springboard for discussion during the Interaction Section.<br \/>\n\u2022 Uses prompts provided in the Adult\u2019s Booklet to construct the meaning of texts and to choose a story or personal experience that can be linked to the chosen text.<\/p>\n<p>If these directives are not followed, a student could practice and memorize any story at all before the exam and recount it. We want to see how the student can create natural links to subjects of conversation.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_accordion_tab][vc_accordion_tab title=\u00a0\u00bbARE TEACHERS ALLOWED TO CONSULT THE EVALUATIONS?\u00a0\u00bb][vc_column_text]ESL teachers can consult the oral interaction examinations prior to the exam in order to prepare the oral interaction with the adult learner.
